The Seven Petal Path



There are seven key factors which research has repeatedly shown to be essential to the maintenance and enhancement of our health and longevity. These are Sleep, Food, Breath/Movement, Routine, Work, Play, and Community. To find out more about each of these elements, click on the Lotus Petals.


Sleep

Sleep is the foundation of your health and wellness. Many intricate mind & body healing processes take place throughout the night during sleep. Thus it is very important to fall asleep and awaken at recommended times to facilitate the recovery of your body each night as you rest.


Work

Is your life well balanced between work, play, and rest? Work stress is one of the leading causes of ill health. Happiness & fullfillment are key components of health. Work which "floats your boat" can actually feel more like play!


Community

Our network of connections --- friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, organizations, etc. forms our community. One of the most dangerous health risks is that of alienation and separateness. Modern American life has become increasingly insular as evidenced by our architecture and living habits. Our health & longevity is supported by feeling a part of something greater than ourselves.


Breath / Movement

The foundational element for life is breath and movement. Breath actually is movement. Our body requires a regular and full supply of oxygen. It also functions best when movement is frequent, free & easy, and when our foundation is solid & balanced.


Food

Our relationship with food must be enjoyable and healthy. Emotional eating patterns develop when food is used to compensate for unwanted feeling states including loneliness, fear, unworthiness, anxiety, etc. It is important to develop a more peaceful and trusting relationship with our food and with ourselves in making the choices best suited for our own health and enjoyment.


Play

This youthful element is the essence of our creativity, spontaneity, energy, light-heartedness, faith & trust. These are extremely important factors in our health & well-being and indeed in our relationship with all of life.


Daily Routine

Lotus uses the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to assist with developing daily and seasonal routines for individuals according to their particular physical, mental, and emotional make-up. The mind/body/spirit does best when a gentle and regular healthy routine is part of every day.
